Ingredients
- 1. Tomatoes : 6 large
- 2. green chillies : 3
- 3. Red chillies : 3
- 4. white gram (Urad dal) : 2 tsp
- 5. Mustard seeds : 2 tsp
- 6. Fenugreek seeds : ½ tsp
- 7. Asafoetida (hing) : 1 tsp
- 8. Jaggery : 1 tsp
- 9. Corriander seeds : 1 tsp
- 10. Salt to taste
- 11. oil : 1 tbsp
Methods/steps
- 1. Heat half the oil in a pan. Splutter 1 tsp of mustard seeds and put in 1 tsp of the urad dal, fenugreek seeds, asafoetida, and coriander seeds. Stir for a minute.
- 2. Add the green chillies and red chillies and fry for a minute.
- 3. Add the chopped tomatoes, jaggery, and salt and continue frying till the tomatoes are well cooked.
- 4. Let it cool, and grind it to a fine paste. Remove on to a bowl
- 5. Heat the remaining oil in another pan and splutter the remaining mustard seeds and white gram (urad dal). Pour over the tomato chutney.
- 6. Serve as desired.
