Varan (Tuvar dal)

Description

A simple dal recipe that goes well with boiled rice.

Tuvar dal : 2 cups
Turmeric powder : ¼ tsp
Asafoetida : ¼ tsp
Cumin seeds : 1 tsp
ghee : 1 tbsp
salt to taste
coriander leaves : 1 tbsp

Methods/steps

  1. 1. Pressure cook the tuvar dal in 3 cups of water till very soft. Remove from cooker, churn well so that it is properly mashed, and boil once again in another pan.
  2. 2. Add the asafoetida, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, salt and the ghee. Boil once again till it is well blended and aromatic.
  3. 3. Serve with hot, boiled rice and vegetables.
