A home-kitchen version of 20 minute chocolate cake, written step by step so it's easy to follow that's worth the oven time.
Ingredients
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 stick margarine
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/4 c. cocoa
- 1 c. water
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 whole eggs
Method
Sift the sugar, flour and salt in large bowl.
Mix the margarine, shortening, cocoa and water in a saucepan over medium heat until it boils.
In a measuring cup, add soda to buttermilk. Pour hot mixture over sugar mixture and stir well.
Add buttermilk, soda and vanilla.
Add eggs, one at a time, and stir well.
Bake in oblong pan for 20 minutes at 400°.
