Apple Pie Cake

A home-kitchen version of apple pie cake, written step by step so it's easy to follow that's worth the oven time.
Ingredients
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 1 c. sifted flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. baking soda in 2 Tbsp. hot water
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
- 2 1/2 c. peeled diced apples
Method
Cream together shortening and sugar; add egg.
Mix and add flour, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Mix thoroughly.
Add vanilla. Mix well.
Add nuts and apples.
