Applesauce Cake

A home-kitchen version of applesauce cake, written step by step so it's easy to follow that's worth the oven time.
Ingredients
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. applesauce
- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. raisins
Method
Cream sugar and shortening; add sifted dry ingredients alternately with applesauce.
Add raisins.
Bake in large bread pan at 350° for 30 to 40 minutes.
Ice with butter frosting. Quick, easy and requires no eggs.
