Applesauce Cake

A home-kitchen version of applesauce cake, written step by step so it's easy to follow that's worth the oven time.
Ingredients
- 3 c. applesauce
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 lb. pecans
- 1/4 lb. citron
- 1/8 oz. pineapple
- 1 lb. dates
- 1/4 lb. cherries
- 1 lb. raisins
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 4 tsp. soda
- 4 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- dash of salt
Method
Boil together for 5 minutes applesauce, sugar and shortening; cool.
Mix rest of dry ingredients and add to cooled applesauce mixture.
Bake 2 hours at 250°.
