Dad'S Birthday Cake

A home-kitchen version of dad's birthday cake, written step by step so it's easy to follow that's worth the oven time.
Ingredients
- 1 c. oleo or shortening
- 2 c. sugar
- 3 c. flour
- 4 eggs, separated
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. milk
- 1/2 tsp. each: vanilla and almond
Method
Cream shortening or oleo and sugar until fluffy.
Add egg yolks, one at a time.
Beat thoroughly.
Add dry ingredients alternately with milk and vanilla to creamed mixture, beating until smooth.
Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
Bake in moderate oven (350°) for 25 minutes in a 9 x 13 x 2-inch pan or two 9-inch round layer pans.
