Granny'S Tea Cakes

A home-kitchen version of granny's tea cakes, written step by step so it's easy to follow that's worth the oven time.

Ingredients
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. margarine, softened
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- flour
Method
Cream shortening, margarine and sugar in mixer bowl until light and fluffy.
Blend in eggs, vanilla, buttermilk, baking powder, soda and salt.
Add flour gradually until mixture forms dough which can be easily rolled.
Roll to 3/8 inch thickness on floured surface.
Cut as desired.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350° for 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown. Cool on wire rack.
Yield: 6 to 8 servings.
