A home-kitchen version of hush puppies, written step by step so it's easy to follow that's worth the oven time.
Ingredients
- 1/2 c. plain flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 1/2 c. corn meal
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3/4 c. beer
- cooking oil
Method
Combine flour, baking powder, meal, sugar and salt in a medium sized mixing bowl. Stir together. Add chopped onion, egg and beer. Mix thoroughly. Heat oil. Drop mixture by teaspoons into hot oil; fry until brown.
