Hush Puppies

A home-kitchen version of hush puppies, written step by step so it's easy to follow that's worth the oven time.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. self-rising cornmeal
- 1 c. self-rising flour
- 1 medium onion, chopped finely
- 1 egg
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 c. milk
Method
Combine cornmeal, flour, onion and sugar.
Add egg.
Gradually beat in milk.
Drop by spoonfuls into hot oil.
I use a Fry Baby and fry 4 hush puppies at a time.
They flip over when brown on one side.
If you have more than needed, pop the remaining in a freezer bag and freeze.
Just heat when needed.
