Soft Butter Cookies

A home-kitchen version of soft butter cookies, written step by step so it's easy to follow that's worth the oven time.
Ingredients
- 2 c. butter or margarine
- 3 c. xxxx sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 1/4 qt. (5 c.) all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp. soda
- 2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
Method
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
Add unbeaten eggs and vanilla.
Beat well.
Sift together dry ingredients.
Blend into creamed mixture.
Chill.
Roll on floured board and cut.
Bake at 400° for 6 minutes.
