Applesauce Beef Loaf

A home-kitchen version of applesauce beef loaf, written step by step so it's easy to follow built around good beef and pantry staples.

Ingredients
- 1 c. soft bread crumbs (about 1 1/2 slices)
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 egg
- 1/4 c. finely chopped celery
- 2 Tbsp. finely chopped onion
- 1 tsp. Dijon style mustard
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- dash of pepper
- 1/2 c. applesauce
- 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. vinegar
Method
Blend thoroughly.
Shape into a round loaf in an 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking pan.
With a spoon, make a crater like depression in top of loaf.
Combine applesauce, brown sugar, vinegar and mustard; pour into depression.
Bake at 350° for 1 hour.
Serves 4 or 5.
